Spooky new cosmetic lens line for the halloween season!
Colored contacts are a fun festive way to express yourself, especially during the Halloween season. A lot of markets (in-person and online) offer "Spooky" contact lenses during the fall to enhance your costume, but it is important to realize that a contact lens is a medical device, and companies can circumvent this by selling the lenses with "no prescription". This, however, just refers to the optical power of the lens, and you still need a prescription for contacts in terms of fit, movement, and coverage on the eye, even if you naturally have 20/20 vision! A poor-fitting lens can scratch the cornea, leaving in its wake an abrasion which can get infected. The contact lenses available are often often made with low quality materials that fail to transmit oxygen appropriately to the cornea, making infection even more likely.
Werner Eyes offers colored contact lenses in both conventional and non-conventional designs! If you decide to shop elsewhere, you should follow these general guidelines:
1) Make sure you have an updated contact lens prescription. This prescription includes the curvature and size of lens that best fits your eye.
2) Make sure the vendor you are buying from asks for a valid contact lens prescription (within 1-2 years of last contact lens evaluation). This helps ensure a quality product and shows the company in question values their customers' health.
3) If wearing the lenses for costume purposes, only wear them as long as you need to and take them out promptly when finished. DO NOT FALL ASLEEP IN THEM!!!!
4) As always, practice safe contact lens habits to reduce any risk of complications with contact lens use. If you find your costume needs a more natural eye color that's different than your own, or you just want to mix it up a bit, we offer the following colors at our practice:
