We are proud to offer Low Vision Services to individuals with decreased vision due to eye disease.
THERE IS HOPE!
Although you may have difficulty seeing, our office can help maximize the remaining vision you have so you can still be active and independent.
What is Low Vision?
Individuals who develop impaired vision that cannot be corrected by surgery, medicine, conventional eyeglasses or contact lenses are said to have low vision. Some diseases that can cause low vision include macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa (to name a few). Low vision is more common than you may think - it's the third most common physical impairment in those over 65, exceeded only by heart disease and arthritis!
What is Low Vision Care / Rehab?
Low vision care (or low vision rehabilitation) is care provided to the visually impaired by trained professionals to help maximize their remaining vision (although it cannot restore lost eyesight). It incorporates the use of certain viewing techniques and optical / non-optical devices, to which we have a full assortment for individuals to try out and see for themselves during their low vision care.
What are Low Vision Aids?
Low vision aids are special lens systems designed to magnify or illuminate images to improve visual acuity and include magnifiers, telescopes, high-powered spectacles and electronic devices. Non-optical devices include large-print reading materials, writing/signature guides and more. Our office carries a comprehensive selection of low vision aids from Eschenbach Optik, the global leader in low vision products, and our staff has been specially trained to assist you in the use of these products.
Our Doctors
Drs. Anderson Werner, F. Joseph Werner, and Annette Zamboni-Werner all have completed low vision internships at the Feinbloom Low Vision Center at Salus University.
