Optomap Option
At Werner Eyes, we provide a service called the "Optomap". This machine allows the doctor to view full extent of the back of the eye, or the retina, which can't normally be seen in full with a standard eye examination. By being able to see the retina, the doctor can check for potential damages or diseases that he normally wouldn't be able to see. These diseases include Diabetic Retinopathy, Hypertension, Age Related Macular Degeneration, and Retinal Detachment. With the help of an Optomap exam, the doctor can more quickly detect such diseases and have them treated to minimize loss of vision. Best of all, the doctor receives this information without the need to dilate a patient's pupils: an uncomfortable experience for most. Although there is an added fee for the Optomap exam, the doctor highly recommends it for its significance in determining the health of your eyes.
